The firm was established in the late 1970's by
James H Mairs, initially to provide a design
service in landscape architecture and site
planning.
In 1980
the firm was expanded into a partnership and
renamed Environmental
Design Consultants
which better describes the services now offered
by the firm.

years the firm has been involved with the master
planning of business parks, canal/waterfront
developments, village regeneration, housing,
schools, churches, conservation areas, Folk

practice is a registered practice of the
Landscape Institute and a member of the Institute
of Environmental Assessment. Individual
professional members of the firm are members of
their respective professional institute and both
partners are, in addition, members of the
American Society of Landscape Architects.
