Environmental
Design Consultants has considerable
experience in the preparation of environmental
statements to date, and is a member of the
Institute of Environmental Assessment.
The firm has acted
as lead consultant for the DOE Roads Service,
Coleraine Division, in the preparation of the
Limavady By-pass Environmental Statement, and has
become very familiar with the interpretation of
the Roads (Assessment of Environmental Effects)
Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1988.
Under the
Drainage (Environmental Assessment) Regulations
(Northern Ireland) 1991, the practice is lead
consultant in the preparation of the
Environmental Assessment of the Newry Flood
Protection Scheme. This Assessment is being
prepared for the Department of Agriculture,
Watercourse Management.
The
practice has been involved in the production of
other environmental statements under the planning
legislation such as the New Water Source for
Belfast and the Eastern Area, the Kircubbin and
Greyabbey Sewage Treatment Works the Newry Sewage
Treatment Works, for the DOE Water Executive and
D5, Sydenham, Leisure and Retail Park for Anglia
& General Developments Ltd. The firm has also
carried out an assessment for a quarry extension
at Kennedy Quarries, Macosquin, Coleraine.
The
practice specialises in landscape assessments
including the visual assessments and in
mitigation measures. Computers are used to create
appropriate working models where necessary, in
order to aid the best integration of the proposed
development into the existing setting. In
addition computer techniques are used to present
photo/realistic images of the before and
after perception of the visual environment.
